Professional Consultants
We offer general professional management advice to farmers and landowners in virtually every aspect of rural property. We undertake professional valuations in accordance with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ Standards for probate, bank borrowing, financial planning and many other purposes. We also advise our clients in respect of financial planning and tax matters, and regularly liaise with government departments for clients regarding Countryside Stewardship, Basic Payment and other schemes.
We have expertise in the fields of compulsory purchase, telecommunication masts, agricultural tenancies, share farming and a range of other matters affecting the modern farmer. We are actively involved in renewable energy schemes in the form of wind turbines, biomass heating systems and solar photovoltaic technology.
In recent times we have focused much more on strategic planning opportunities and specialised in helping clients to partner the right developer. Whether this is a house builder or a promoter, we try to maximise a return from their land in the shortest possible time. The current focus concerns the need for a five-year land supply, and we’ve already been able to help clients achieve some extraordinary returns in quite short time frames.
Alternative Dispute Resolution Through Mediation
Eleanor Havers is an RICS Accredited Mediator. Mediation is a confidential, voluntary and effective alternative dispute resolution process whereby an independent third party helps parties in dispute to reach a settlement. The mediator will facilitate the parties’ discussion questioning to both parties to make the parties think hard about the risks of their case and the chances of success if it goes to trial. The mediator will not take sides or pass judgement, a settlement will only be reached if both parties agree. Both parties share the cost of mediation, which will depend on the value and complexity of the claim. Mediation is a useful flexible process to resolve issues such as boundary disputes, rights of way, ownership and occupation, Will disputes, family break-up and partnership dissolution. If parties are unable to reach agreement, they can still go to court. Details of the mediation will not be disclosed or used at a subsequent court hearing.
